MINDFULNESS FOR THE HELPING PROFESSIONS

Stress-reduction workshops for social workers, community workers, teachers, nurses and other health professionals

Suzie Brown, Director of Avista Mindfulness Training, runs workshops and courses specially tailored for people working in helping professions. These people work in the most challenging jobs in our community – for example, social workers, carers, community workers, health workers, emergency workers, psychologists/counsellors and environmental change agents.

Such roles can often be depleting over time and have additional stress due to the challenging and ongoing nature of the work. Staff in the helping professions can be at risk of burnout if they don't learn to manage their stress effectively.

Suzie has taught workshops and courses to a range of community sector and government clients including Villamaria (with groups of carers), Hume City Council (for environmental change workers), the Victorian Department of Human Services, Karingal Community Services, BethanyRed Cross Australia and Scope Victoria.
